Miles: There was a cave. In the background we saw mountains. There was a forest. And by the forest there were people camping .

Amanda: There were mountains as the background and clouds with sky. The mountains were snowy. There was this passage on one of the mountains. There were some people camping with their herds of cows and horses. There were trees at the bottom of the mountains making a forest. There was a hill and at the bottom of the hill there was a pot over a fire. The pot was held up by sticks.

Games for Algebra and Geometry

The other day I read a review of a game used to teach algebra called "WFF The Beginner's Guide to Modern Logic." The lady giving the review said that her algebra teacher had her class play this game for the first semester of algebra years ago, and she loved it. They played other games too, but this is one that I'm interested in trying with my family. Anyway, I just wanted to share in case there are others interested in it. I just want to apologize for not consistently updating my blog. We have had a challenging year, well, actually more than a year. . my husband has been unemployed, then started his own business and simultaneously went back to school. This year he started job searching again, so it has been quite a challenge. I am grateful for an all-knowing Heavenly Father who loves us and cares for us. I am a lily in the field metaphorically. He understands all my trials and is leading me along. I will strive to do better at recording our journey. I give thanks to God for my very existence and know that he blesses us daily with tender mercies!

These are wonderful, character building books. They are historical fiction that you and your children can read online.

Amanda: I saw a waterfall in the background. There was a bridge over a river. There were people on a balcony with a clothesline and people washing clothes on a table and in the river. There were a whole bunch of trees surrounding the area.

Miles: I saw a waterfall in the background and a whole bunch of trees. And a bridge and a tower with people on it. And under the tower there was people washing clothes.

Hannah:  On the ground were some people and they had pitchers of water in their hands. And above the people there were people on top of a building. In the background there were a bunch of pretty clouds and they were orangish-yellowish and blue. And then there was a bridge and behind the bridge was a waterfall. Underneath the bridge and kind of on the bridge there were a bunch of cloud-shaped rocks. And it was a really pretty picture.

Emily: There was a bridge that was built off of a cliff. Trees were growing out of the cliff and lots of plants too. Then behind the bridge you could see a waterfall, above which there were clouds.There was an old house next to the bridge. Beneath the bridge was a cave. Below the bridge was a stone platform, on which there were people. In the bottom left corner there were a couple of steps. It was by Jean-Honore Fragonard.

I watched a fascinating video titled "Food Matters" from Dr. Mercola's website a week ago. It was so good that I decided to take notes so that I could look some things up later. One of the things that was of interest to me was vitamin research from Andrew Saul. His website is doctoryourself.com. Lots of good information there. Be sure to read about ADD/ADHD on his site, it is a must read.

Here are a couple of articles about healing cavities:
treeoflifemothering.ning.com: this is a testimonial from a woman who had been a vegetarian for many years and ended up with tooth issues. She read Dr. Weston Price's book Nutrition and Physical Degeneration, specifically chapter 16 which recommends 1/2 teaspoon cod liver oil along with 1/2 teaspoon high vitamin butter oil three times per day to stop and reverse tooth decay. She also used Dr. Christopher's Tooth and Gum powder in place of toothpaste and essential oils (clove and cinnamon).

I found the first couple chapters of Easy Homeschooling Techniques very effective in explaining how to make your own long-term and short-term goals and scope sequence.

Montessori Resources

Kathryn Louis has several wonderful articles about teaching young children. This one is geared towards teaching children to write using Montessori methods and supplies. She recommends you start at about age 3 with metal insets, then move on to sandpaper letters, and then the moveable alphabet. She has more detail and much more at her website.
